Welcome
Message from Our Principal
Since 1950, Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School has provided quality secondary education for students in the greater Oklahoma City area. Catholic schools are traditional in their academic background in core subjects such as math, science, English, foreign language and social sciences. Graduates typically perform better in post-secondary endeavors. It is because of this tradition that our curriculum requirements have varied little in the past 57 years.
The McGuinness campus has been transformed over the past seven years. Starting with the renovation of our auditorium and culminating with the expansion and new ad
dition to our athletic complex. Our facilities are considered to be some of the best in Oklahoma. New buildings and improved facilities are exciting, but they do not define a school. McGuinness students are involved. From academics to extracurricular activities and service projects, our students are eager to make a difference in the world. McGuinness has been honored by the Acton Institute as one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in America.
The highly qualified McGuinness teaching staff works tirelessly to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. Forty-eight percent of the staff hold advanced degrees. The average student-to-teacher ratio of 18:1 allows our teachers the ability to spend quality instructional time with each student. McGuinness teachers provide end-of-day tutorial time, giving each student the opportunity to achieve academic success.
You will find many educational choices in our city. Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School is unique among these choices for a variety of reasons. We are the largest private high school in the Oklahoma City area. This size permits us to offer a variety of academic and extracurricular programs. It is through these programs that students learn to become capable adults, ready to meet the challenges of the world.
It is, however, our Catholic heritage that makes our school special. Each student is challenged to grow spiritually. Faith is woven into the fabric of our daily life at McGuinness. Because of this, we are able to deal with day-to-day issues in a manner not possible in other schools. Our graduates often comment on how the spiritual life of the school has had a lasting impact on their lives.
We welcome the opportunity to serve you and your children.
Most sincerely,
David L. Morton
