Tuition Assistance at Bishop McGuinness, A Partnership Rooted in Access, Responsibility, and Mission

Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School is committed to making a Catholic education accessible to families through a comprehensive, need-based tuition assistance program. Our process is designed to be fair, confidential, and rooted in partnership between families, students, and the school, allowing us to support nearly $1 million in tuition assistance each year while remaining faithful to our mission of educating the whole person.

Overview of Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance is awarded based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. Each application is reviewed individually and treated with complete confidentiality. Submission of an application does not guarantee an award.

Financial Need Assessment (FACTS)

All families seeking tuition assistance are required to complete a Financial Need Analysis through the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment system. FACTS is an independent third-party service that evaluates financial need using the financial information and documentation provided by each family. Applications are not considered complete until all required documents are submitted and verified by FACTS.

Work Grant Program

All recipients of tuition assistance participate in the Bishop McGuinness Work Grant Program, which generates a portion of the tuition assistance funds awarded each year. Participation in the program is a condition of receiving tuition assistance.

For generations, the Work Grant Program has fostered responsibility, investment, and engagement in the McGuinness community. While similar programs exist at other schools, the Work Grant Program plays a unique role in supporting families and helping students develop a sense of ownership in their education. The program continues to evolve to better accommodate academic and extracurricular commitments.

Shared Responsibilities

The success of the Work Grant Program depends on a shared partnership:

  • Family Responsibilities: Families are responsible for completing all required registration forms, submitting accurate and timely information, selecting a viable work session, tracking completed hours, and fulfilling any financial obligation if assigned hours are not completed.

  • Student Responsibilities: Once a grant is awarded, students are responsible for completing the required work hours during their assigned session.

  • School Responsibilities: The school is responsible for assigning work sessions, communicating remaining hours or outstanding balances, and administering the program.

This partnership allows families to fully receive the financial benefit, helps students build accountability and relationships, and enables the school to continue offering substantial tuition assistance each year.
