Stagecraft and Video Production

After graduating from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Matt Avra started his career at the Omaha Community Playhouse in Omaha, Nebraska where he worked as the shop foreman. He returned to Oklahoma in 2003 and worked as the assistant technical director and shop foreman at his alma mater. Some of his favorite productions during that time were Jane Eyre, The Fix and Steel Pier. In 2004, he started part time at Bishop McGuinness helping students build scenery for the productions. In 2009, Matt left UCO and became the production manager for Cory’s Audio and Visual Services. Where he worked on numerous productions in Oklahoma and across the United States. In 2012, he became a full time faculty member at McGuinness. He is an ETCP certified theatrical rigger. Some of his favorite productions include “Flipside: the Patti Page Story”, Oklahoma Youth Ag Expo, National Association of County Agricultural Agents, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “My Client Curley, and “Alice in Wonderland”. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids.
