St. Pier Giorgio Frassati

Pier Giorgio has been a source of inspiration for our school for decades. In 1995, during the very first Kairos retreat, he was chosen as our patron, guiding us with his example of faith, service, and joy. Along with his selection, the phrase “Towards the Top” was adopted as our school motto, reminding us always to strive higher in spirit and character.

Just a few years later, in 1998, the Blessed Pier Giorgio Chapel was completed on our campus, providing a place of prayer and reflection dedicated to his legacy.

To celebrate his canonization, students handed out stickers and candy—filling the halls with unity and excitement for this historic moment! We ended our school-day prayer with the words, “St. Pier Giorgio, pray for us!” for the first time in history.

Who is Pier Giorgio Frassati?

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901–1925) is a beloved patron for youth, young adults, athletes, and “ordinary people,” whose witness to Gospel living continues to inspire a century after his death. St. John Paul II named him the “Man of the Beatitudes” and patron of World Youth Days, while Pope Francis praised him in Christus Vivit as a joyful example for all young people. Known for his deep faith, love of the poor, commitment to justice, and passion for friendship and sports, Pier Giorgio embodied an extraordinary holiness in the midst of ordinary life. He often connected his Catholic faith with his favorite pastime, mountain climbing, leading friends in prayer and conversation as they journeyed “to the heights.” His phrase “Verso l’Alto” remains a call to seek God with joy and perseverance. The Church continues to hold him up as a model for how to live faithfully, generously, and courageously in everyday life.
