College should be on everyones mind. Whether you are the parent of a freshman or a senior, you and your student should already be talking about college. GPA, ACT and SAT test scores, service, activities, and overall character play a large part in determining what doors will be open to your child as they move out of high school and into college.
Tonight, highly acclaimed speaker Peter Van Buskirk will be on hand to present “The Admission Game.” Van Buskirk will lay out the many hurdles that each student will face as they make one of the most important decisions of their life. He will address everything from how the most select colleges and universities choose their students, to what each student must do to insure there will be a place for them no matter where they plan to attend school. The “Admission Game” was presented to our parents last fall and received such positive reviews we wanted to bring Mr. Van Buskirk back for a repeat performance. I hope to see you in the auditorium when the program begins at 7:00 pm. Prior to the presentation we will make a few comments about the start of school, upcoming events and accessing your Power School Account.
The second reading on Sunday was from James 2:14-18. What good is it my brothers and sisters, if he says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother and sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
I hope you will find time this week to bring up this reading in some way with your child. Have a great week and I look forward to seeing you tonight.
Sincerely in Christ,
