Student Life

Involvement is an important aspect of student life at Bishop McGuinness.

Extracurricular activities not only add to the enjoyment of school life but also permit development of broader insights and experiences in the academic, cultural, political, athletic and social areas. They enhance the high school experience and enrich the community. Classes work as a unit to promote class spirit, sponsor various activities, and take part in Olympics competition.

Throughout the year, Bishop McGuinness hosts traditions and events that build school spirit, encourage student involvement, and bring our community together in celebration, service, and Irish pride.

Olympics Week

Olympics Week is a long-standing Bishop McGuinness tradition that brings our classes together through competition, camaraderie, and Irish pride. Throughout the year, students earn Olympics points, and this final week before exams is when it all comes together.

Canned Food Drive

Each November, the Bishop McGuinness community unites in service through our annual Canned Food Drive, supporting the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Culminating in Canstruction Day, when donations are built into a large-scale sculpture before pickup, showcasing generosity, teamwork, and faith in action.

Homecoming

Homecoming Week celebrates school spirit, tradition, and community. Each fall, eight senior girls and eight senior boys are chosen to represent their class. Beginning in 2025, Bishop McGuinness proudly crowns both a Homecoming Queen and King, honoring students who represent the spirit and values of our Irish community.

The educational philosophy of Bishop McGuinness is the major component of policy, regulations and procedures.

Some operational and educational principles of the school are absolute and some have been established as a result of educational research, future projections, contemporary trends and past experiences.

The school handbook is an attempt to delineate the fundamental policies, rules, regulations and expectations of Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School to students as well as parents. Certainly, there will be many “common sense” policies that will not be included within its pages.
